Matrimony
The Sacrament of Matrimony stands as a sign of Christ the Bridegroom's love for his Bride, the Church. By this Sacrament, spouses are called to a life of service to one another, to their children, and to the Church. Married people live a life of love which calls them to sacrifice for one another and their children in order to reach the gates of heaven. Marriage is a covenant between the husband and wife, a permanent union of persons capable of knowing and loving each other and God. The celebration of marriage is also a liturgical action, appropriately held in a public liturgy at church. Catholics are urged to celebrate their marriage within the Eucharistic Liturgy.
