Baptism
Baptism is the "door to the Sacraments". Through Faith and Baptism, one becomes a Christian, adopted as a son or daughter of God. Thus the Christian can fully immerse himself in all of the graces of the Church. Through Baptism we are cleansed of original sin and given the inheritance of Heaven where we might live in perfect joy for eternity. We are delighted that you desire this most fulfilled life for yourself or your child. We look forward to walking with you and your family in preparation for such a great gift from Almighty God. We want you and your child to feel that Holy Cross Church will always be a place where you belong.
Q. What should be my first step to have my child baptized?
The first step is to complete the Baptismal Preparation Form. This is a fillable form. Either fill it out and email to mguidry@htdiocese.org or print it to complete and bring to church office or Baptism meeting.
Parents should call the church office 985-384-3551 to schedule a baptism meeting with the priest with parents and potential godparents. Print and bring completed Baptismal Preparation Form and Godparent forms to the meeting.
Q. Who can be a Godparent? And how many do I need?
A godparent must be a Confirmed and practicing Catholic who has reached sixteen years of age. Only one (1) Godparent is required. However, one can have both a godfather and a godmother. Each godparent should complete this Godparent form and bring to meeting with priest, along with a newly issued copy of his or her baptismal certificate. Godparent Form This is a fillable form. Either fill it out and email to mguidry@htdiocese.org or print it to complete and bring to church office or Baptism meeting.
