Baptism

Baptism is the "door to the Sacraments". Through Faith and Baptism, one becomes a Christian, adopted as a son or daughter of God. Thus the Christian can fully immerse himself in all of the graces of the Church. Through Baptism we are cleansed of original sin and given the inheritance of Heaven where we might live in perfect joy for eternity. We are delighted that you desire this most fulfilled life for yourself or your child. We look forward to walking with you and your family in preparation for such a great gift from Almighty God. We want you and your child to feel that Holy Cross Church will always be a place where you belong.

Q. What should be my first step to have my child baptized?

The first step is to fill out and submit the Baptismal Preparation Form. The online version of this form may be found HERE, or if you prefer to print it, click HERE.

Q. What will happen once I submit the Baptismal Preparation Form?

Effective January 1, 2022, all parents and godparents will be required to attend a Baptism seminar. Godparents must be confirmed and practicing Catholics. Baptism Seminars will take place the first Saturday of every month at 10 AM. If you are expecting a child, you should fill out the Baptism form above AND call the church office to register for the seminar.

Q. Who can be a Godparent? And how many do I need?

A godparent must be a Confirmed and practicing Catholic who has reached sixteen years of age. Only one (1) Godparent is required. However, one can have both a godfather and a godmother.

Q. What if I’m an adult who wasn’t Baptized as an infant?

We can’t wait to walk with you! Send an e-mail to Colleen at RCIA@holycrossmc.org, who would love to help you to begin the process of becoming a Christian. In the meantime, check out our RCIA page here.(connect to RCIA)
